Our Range of Gym Chalk for Weightlifting

Don’t let sweaty hands get in the way of pushing your limits. Explore our range of ready-to-use dry and liquid chalk.

Powder Chalk

Our gym chalk powder is made with pure magnesium carbonate to create a lasting non-slip layer on your hands. It’s essential for preventing slips and ensuring safety. Our chalk powder for weightlifting is available in blocks, balls and in crushed form.

  • Chalk blocks: Our gym chalk blocks are exceptionally fine, allowing them to spread more evenly and enhance performance.

  • Chalk balls: Chalk balls work by releasing chalk through a fabric bag. This is helpful for quick re-chalks during rock climbing or between sets, reducing fallout and waste.

  • Loose powder chalk: Loose dry chalk products are perfect for pouring into your chalk bag or chalk bowl and using right away.

Whether you use block, ball or free-form chalk, you’re sure to feel a firmer grip during your workout.

Liquid Chalk

Our liquid gym chalk is available in 50ml bottles and 250ml bottles. Our portable 50ml bottle is ideal for clipping onto your harness during climbs, while our 250ml bottles are perfect for your lifting setup.

Liquid chalk has longer staying power than dry chalk and makes less of a mess. It also leaves fewer chalk particles in the air and less residue on rocks and equipment. It’s more spreadable than dry chalk and more efficient to use, since you’re less likely to mess if dropped.

Our weightlifting liquid chalk is one of our best-selling products to enhance your grip while climbing or lifting with barbells. However, due to its highly drying formula, liquid chalk may not be as ideal if you have very dry skin.

FAQs

Explore our answers to common questions about powder and liquid chalk for lifting.

Should I use liquid or powder chalk?

Both liquid chalk and powder chalk improve grip and reduce hand sweat, but each has pros and cons depending on your needs.

Liquid chalk creates a long-lasting, even layer on your hands and produces less mess than powder. It’s ideal for activities like climbing, lifting or gymnastics in gyms where dust is a concern. However, liquid chalk can be very drying and may cause skin irritation or buildup with frequent use, especially for people with dry or sensitive skin.

Powder chalk absorbs moisture effectively and is easy to reapply during long or intense workouts. It’s preferred by athletes who need frequent touch-ups. But it can be messy, leave residue, and is often restricted in gyms due to airborne dust.

In summary:

  • Choose liquid chalk for less mess and longer-lasting grip.

  • Choose powder chalk for quick reapplication and stronger sweat absorption.

How long does gym chalk last?

How long gym chalk lasts depends on the type (liquid or powder), how often you train, and how much chalk you use per session.

Powder chalk is typically used at a rate of 10–15 grams per workout. So a 500g bag should last about 33 sessions, or roughly two months if used twice per week.

Liquid chalk lasts longer per use. Most people use around 8ml per workout, meaning a 250ml bottle lasts about 30 sessions. That’s about four months with twice-weekly use, or up to 7–8 months with once-weekly use.

In short:

  • Powder chalk: 500g = ~2 months at 2x/week

  • Liquid chalk: 250ml = ~4–8 months, depending on frequency

Can I use baby powder instead of chalk?

No, it is not safe to use baby powder instead of gym chalk. Baby powder is made from ingredients like talc or cornstarch, which do not absorb moisture effectively and can actually make your hands or barbell more slippery.

Gym chalk, on the other hand, is made from magnesium carbonate, a compound specifically designed to reduce moisture and improve grip during lifting, climbing and gymnastics. Using baby powder instead of chalk can negatively impact your performance and increase the risk of slipping or losing grip.
